Wolves defeat Baton Rouge 6-4

BATON ROUGE - The Co-Lin Wolves defeated the Baton Rouge Bears 6-4 in a 9-inning non-division contest. The Wolfpack host Rend Lake College (IL) on Saturday for a double header beginning at 1 p.m. Both games will be broadcast at www.colinathletics.com and WMJU 104.3 FM in Brookhaven.

Co-Lin 6, Baton Rouge 4

The Wolves broke a 4-all tie in the top of the ninth inning to take a 6-4 win over the host Bears.

Leading the Wolves at the plate was centerfielder Jeff DeBlieux with a double and 2 singles. First baseman Cble McMinn doubled and singled. Adding a single apiece were Conner Oakes, Kendall Logan, Edmund Cheatam and Tyler Hue.

Mitch Tidwell pitched the eighth inning to pick up his first win of the season. Tidwell allowed 1 hit and struck out  3. Starter Preston Edwards went 5 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, striking out 3 and walking 2. Andrew Lee relieved Edwards in the sixth. Lee allowed 1 run on 1 hit, struck out 3 and walked 1. DeBlieux picked up the saving pitching a hitless ninth inning.

The Bears committed 7 errors in the game.

At the plate for Baton Rouge, catcher Pat Wallace went 3-for-4 at the plate with 3 singles. Anthony Dillegard had a double and a single. Josh Crowdus singled twice. Adding a single was Josh Perez.

Absorbing the loss was Lewis Morallis. Morallis allowed 4 runs on 4 hits, struck out 2 and walked none. Starter Josh Powell allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, struck out 4 and walked 1 in 6 innings.
