Wolves come from behind to defeat Southwest 93-88

WESSON - The Wolves won their third straight game as they defeated the Southwest Bears 93-88 in front of a packed house in Mullen Gym. Co-Lin improves to 8-9 overall and 3-4 in the South Division. The Bears fall to 8-10, 3-4 in the division. The Wolves travel to Pearl River on Monday. Listen live at www.colinathletics.com or WMJU 104.3 FM in Brookhaven.

Southwest jumped out to a 14-5 lead at the 14:15 mark of the first half. The Wolves went on a 11-2 run to tie the game with 11:16 remaining in the half. The Bears went on a 7-0 run to take a 23-16 lead. Freshman Jay Case hit a trey with 7:55 left in the half to tie the game at 23-all. Cory Lacy would hit two free throws with 59.2 seconds remaining to give Southwest a 45-40 halftime advantage.

In the second half, the Bears appeared to be cruising as they built a 70-59 lead at the 10:39 mark. The Wolves would mount a fierce rally in the next 5 minutes outscoring Southwest 21-3 to take a 80-73 lead with 5:32 remaining in the game.

A bucket by Josh Brannon with 2:20 left pulled the Bears to within 4 at 87-83. But the Wolves would hold off the Southwest rally going 6-of-8 from the charity stripe in the final 39.4 seconds.

The Co-Lin bench came up big in the game as they outscored the Bears 43-13. The Wolves shot 57 percent for the game, while the Bears shot 51 percent.

LeDarius Davis came off the bench to score a career-high 19 points for the Wolves. Mike Buffalo scored 17 points and pulled down 6 rebounds. Jay Case had 15 points followed by Anthony Davis with 14 and Jake Reed with 13. Anthony Davis dished out 5 assists. Case made 4 steals.

Mark Bridgewater scored a game-high 26 points for Southwest. Lacy added 19 points and Wesley Blackmon 17.
