UTICA - Trevis Thomas scored with 5.4 seconds left in the game to give the Hinds Bulldogs a 64-62 South Division win over the Wolves. Co-Lin falls to 8-11 overall, 3-6 in the division. The Wolves led by as many as 7 in the final 6 minutes of the game. Hinds would go on a 6-0 run to pull within 1 at 57-56 with 4:30 left in the game. A trey by Anthony Davis with 2:40 remaining gave Co-Lin a 61-58 lead. But Carlo McDonald would hit a 3-pointer with 38 seconds left to put the Bulldogs up 62-61. On the next possession, Jake Reed would hit 1-of-2 free throws with 19 seconds left to tie the game at 62-all. The basket by Thomas would give the Bulldogs a 64-62 lead with 5.4 seconds remaining. Co-Lin would have one last opportunity to tie or win the game. Anthony Davis would drive the ball down the court to the top of the key, but hit shot at the buzzer would be blocked.
"Our guys weren't tough enough physically," said Co-Lin head coach Dennis Sims. "Hinds played hard, we should have won this game."
The Wolves led 39-35 at halftime.
Reed led the Wolves with 14 points followed by Maurice Williams with 11. Davis would chip in 10 points. Mike Buffalo led off the backboards with 6 rebounds.
Carlo McDonald led Hinds with 14 points followed by Josh Gaskin with 13. Thomas chipped in 12 points and pulled down 7 rebounds.
The Wolves are still in the playoff hunt as they are tied for the fourth place in the division with rival Southwest. The top four teams from the each division will play in the state tournament which will be hosted by the women's North Division champion. Co-Lin has three division games remaining against Gulf Coast, East Central and Jones.
