Case leads Wolfpack to 61-57 win over Warriors

DECATUR - Freshman Jay Case pumped in a game-high 22 points to lead the Co-Lin Wolves to a 61-57 South Division win over the East Central Warriors. Co-Lin (9-13, 4-7) will play their final home game of the season on Thursday against Jones County Junior College. Sophomore players will be honored and the Wolves ask that you Go Pink in honor of beast cancer awareness. Case went 4-for-4 from the free throws in the final 9 seconds of the game to secure the win for the Wolfpack.

The Wolves shot a dismal 25 percent in the first half (6-of-24), but only trailed the Warriors 23-18 at halftime.

They finally got in rhythm offensively out scoring East Central 17-10 and tying the game at 33-all with 13 minutes remaining. The Wolfpack would lead by as many as 11 in the second half.

The Warriors would rally going on a 12-6 run in the final 4:30 to pull within 55-54 with 35 seconds remaining. Freshman guard Anthony Davis hit 2 clutch free throws with 31 seconds remaining to give Co-Lin a 57-54 lead.

Co-Lin's bench would out score East Central's bench 33-22. After a cold-shooting first half, the Wolfpack came back to shoot 64 percent (14-of-22) in the second half and finish shooting 44 percent in the game. Co-Lin went 11-for-11 from the free throw line in the second half. The Wolfpack out rebounded the Warriors 33-24.

Fred Fairman was the only other Co-Lin player in double figures coming off the bench to score 14 points. Fairman also led off the backboards with 8 rebounds.

East Central had three players in double figures led by Hakeem Wesley who came off the bench to score 15 points. Thomas Straughter followed with 11 points and Jontrae Conley added 10.

The Wolfpack failed to qualify for next week's MACJC State Tournament that will be held at Itawamba Community College in Fulton.
