Briggs directs Lady Wolves over Southwest

WESSON - Vintrice Briggs scored a season-high 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to direct the Lady Wolves to a 72-54 South Division win over the Southwest Lady Bears. The Lady Wolves improve to 14-3 overall and remain undefeated in the South Division at 7-0. Southwest falls to 3-15, 0-7 in the division. Co-Lin jumped out to an early 20-4 lead at the 12:53 mark in the first half. Back-to-back treys by Chanta Poole gave the Lady Wolves a 29-10 advantage with 4:52 left in the half. Co-Lin led by as many as 20 points in the first half on their way to a 37-18 at halftime.

The Lady Bears went on a 14-4 run to open the second half to pull within 9 at 41-32. Co-Lin responded with a 21-10 run to take a 62-42 lead with 3:55 remaining in the game.

The Co-Lin bench came up big again outscoring Southwest 39-4. The Lady Wolves dominated the backboards as they collected 46 rebounds to 29 for the Lady Bears.

Briggs, a freshman from Roxie, scored 12 of her team-high 14 points in the second half to lead the Lady Wolves. Poole finished the game with 13 points, including 3 3-pointers. Jasmine Belton came off the bench to chip in 11 points. Jasmine James led Co-Lin on the backboards with 12 rebounds. Keosha Bradley dished out 5 assists. Freshman guard Tiffany Sims made 6 steals.

For Southwest, Shaniece Sheffield scored a game-high 21 points followed by Shanekqua Bibbs with 14 points. Julencia Brown pulled down 6 rebounds.
