DECATUR - The Lady Wolves remained undefeated in South Division play picking up a 78-73 road win over the East Central Lady Warriors. Co-Lin (19-3, 11-0) will host Jones County on Thursday night in the final home game of the season. Sophomore players will be honored and the Lady Wolves ask that you Go Pink in honor of beast cancer awareness. The Lady Wolves went on an 11-2 run to take a 39-26 lead behind sophomore Keosha Bradley's 21 first half points.
East Central went on a 14-2 run to start the second half to pull within 41-40, but could not take the lead. Co-Lin put together a 18-8 run to take a 61-48 lead with 10 minutes remaining.
The Lady Warriors would mount a furious charge in the final 3 minutes of the game out scoring Co-Lin 14-6, but the Lady Wolves were able to hold off the rally to take the 78-73 win.
"Keosha and Chanta shot the ball really well tonight," said Co-Lin head coach Gwyn Young. "We can play better defensively and we need to get more out of out post players."
Co-Lin shot 44 percent in the game (28-of-64) while the Lady Warrior shot 47 percent (28-of-60).
Bradley finished with a game-high 31 points to lead the Lady Wolves. Chanta Poole added 23 points followed by Jasmine James with 10. James led off the backboards with 9 rebounds. Bradley and Jasmine Belton dished out 3 assists apiece.
JaMonica Orton led East Central with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Xzandra Dowd and Kelcia Bufkin had 13 points apiece. Chaunderia Bell chipped in 12 points off the bench.
The Lady Wolves will defend their state title next week at the MACJC State Tournament that will be hosted by Itawamba Community College in Fulton. Co-Lin will be the No. 1 seed out of the South Division. Listen live to all the action at www.colinathletics.com
