Allen Kent Head Softball Coach

Allen Kent begins his eighth year as head coach of the Co-Lin Lady Wolves softball team. Kent has compiled a record of 210-68 since taking over the program, with a .755 winning percentage. He led the 2009 Lady Wolves (33-12) to the MACJC State Championship, their third title in the last four years.
The 2008 Lady Wolves were NJCAA National Runners-Up, while the 2006 squad earned their way to a third place finish in the NJCAA National Tournament in Normal, Ill. The Lady Wolves won the NJCAA Region 23 and the MACJC State Tournament in 2006 and 2008.
Kent has been voted MACJC and MAC Coach of the Year three times and the NJCAA Region 23 Coach of the Year twice. He has also received two Mississippi Association of Coaches Community College Coach of the Year Awards.
His Lady Wolves have been MACJC South Division Champions in 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2009, while finishing runners-up in 2003 and 2005.
Under Kent’s direction, Co-Lin has produced two NJCAA First Team All-Americans, three NJCAA Second Team All-Americans, and nine NJCAA Academic All-Americans.
A 1982 graduate of Brookhaven High School and a 1984 graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Kent was a two-year starter for the Wolfpack baseball team. He graduated from Mississippi State University. He serves as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Brookhaven.
Kent also serves as the college’s Director of Housing. He is married to the former Wanda Gayle Agnor of Magnolia, Mississippi. They are the parents of a son, Colby.
Duane Burt Assistant Softball Coach

Duane Burt begins his third year as an assistant coach for the Lady Wolves softball team, and his fourth year as an instructor of biology and chemistry at Co-Lin.
He is a 1998 graduate of Co-Lin, where he was a member of the baseball team, president of the Eta Omega chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, and a Hall of Fame inductee.
Burt received his bachelor’s degree in marine biology, with a minor in chemistry, from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2000. He acquired additional study in marine science at Cornell University.
Upon graduating from Southern Miss, he accepted a job as Environmental Manager at a utility engineering and construction firm, which was contracted by AT&T. After two years of environmental work,
Burt was emergency certified by the state of Mississippi to teach high school science for two years. While at Bogue Chitto High School, he was head softball coach. During these two years, he accumulated two District 7-1A Championship titles, one undefeated season within Lincoln County rival teams, and advanced well into the state playoffs in 2002-2004.
When his emergency certification to teach and coach expired in 2004, Burt attended graduate school at the University of Mississippi, School of Pharmacy. In 2006, he received his master of science degree in marine pharmacognosy, or, drug discovery from marine plants and animals.
Burt began instructing science at Co-Lin in the fall of 2006 at the Simpson County Center, and transferred to the Wesson campus during the summer of 2007. He is a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bogue Chitto, and is married to the former Amy L. Smith of Bogue Chitto. They are the parents of one son, Brandon, and a daughter, Layla.
Johnny Williams Volunteer Coach

Johnny Williams begins his 16th year as assistant coach for the Lady Wolves softball team. He served as head coach in 2002.
A member of the faculty at Co-Lin since 1987, Williams retired in May 2009. He served as the division chair of the computer science/mathematics division.
He received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Southern Mississippi and his master’s degree in mathematics from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1979 with a major in mathematics and a minor in education. At Southeastern, he was a member of Pi Mu Epsilon National Mathematics Honor Society and served as president in 1979. He has done additional study at Mississippi State University, Alcorn State University, Jackson State University, and the University of Southern Mississippi.
Prior to coming to Co-Lin he was a teacher and coach at Crescent City Baptist High School in Metairie, Louisiana. He previously taught and coached at Bogue Chitto High School where he was affiliated with the Mississippi Education Association, Mississippi Association for Adult Education, and the Lincoln County Education Association.
He was selected to represent Co-Lin at the NISOD Conference in 1994, received Co-Lin’s High Performance Award in 2000, selected as the Wesson Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Year in 2000, and Co-Lin’s Outstanding Academic Instructor in 2001.
He is a member of Wesson Baptist Church, and the Wesson High School Booster Club. He and his wife, the former Cindy Hodges, have two sons, Ryan, and Wade,.
