Football Stacks Up Postseason Honors

JACKSON – The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) recently announced the football All-MACCC teams. The Wolves had 14 players earn 16 honors throughout the teams and awards as Martavious Boswell, Kamron Pittman, Jarmaine Mitchell, Lonnie Smith, Rakeem Davis, Doug Nelson, and Archie Chambers all earned First Team Honors while Ty Jones, Jermarj Bell, Edarius Green, Jakolby Jones, Trenton Rocker, and Tre Webb earned Second Team honors with Jaylen Pettway and Ty Jones taking Honorable Mention honors.

Martavious Boswell, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, had a season for the record books for the Wolves as he became just one of three players to eclipse the 1000-yard rushing mark. Boswell had 1109 yards on 130 rushes with 13 touchdowns averaging 110.9 yards per game and 8.5 yards per carry and was top three in both the MACCC and the NJCAA in those categories. He also had six receptions for 70 yards.

Kamron Pittman, a native of Clarksdale, had seven receptions for 104 yards with two touchdowns in seven games played in the tight end position for the Wolves.

Jarmaine Mitchell, a native of Lutcher, Louisiana, was the left tackle anchor for the Wolves offensive line. That unit led an offense that averaged 410.9 yards per game, 227.8 rushing and 183.1 passing, along with 32.5 points per game.

Lonnie Smith, a native of Jackson, played in all ten games for the Wolves as a linebacker. He totaled 48 tackles with 16.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, one interception, and one fumble recovery.

Rakeem Davis, a native of Port Gibson, played in all ten games for the Wolves as a defensive lineman. He totaled 29 tackles with eight tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one pass breakup, and two blocks.

Doug Nelson, a native of Hazlehurst, played in all ten games for the Wolves as a cornerback. He totaled 36 tackles with one fumble recovery, one interception, two pass breakups, and one block.

Archie Chambers, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana made the most of his one season with the Wolves playing in all ten games as a linebacker. He led the team in tackles totaling 68 with 4.5 tackles for loss along with one forced fumble, two interceptions, and two pass breakups.

Ty Jones, a native of Summit, earned second team kicker and honorable mention punter honors for the Wolves. He totaled 55 points this season as he went 7-for-10 on field goals and 34-for-43 on extra point attempts this season. He also averaged 38.3 yards per punt across 39 punts with 19 going inside the 20-yard line with a longest punt of 65 yards this sason.

Jermarj Bell, a native of Mound Bayou, played in all ten games this season for the Wolves and amassed 1086 total all-purpose yards. As a receiver, he had 28 receptions for 360 yards with two touchdowns. As a returner, he averaged 27.5 yards across 22 kickoff returns for 604 yards and had 17 punt returns for 122 yards.

Edarius Green, a native of Natchez, and Jakobly Jones, a native of Many, Louisiana, both played along the offensive line for the Wolves. Green played in eight games as the center while Jones played in all ten as the right tackle. That line led an offense that averaged 410.9 yards per game, 227.8 rushing and 183.1 passing, along with 32.5 points per game.

Trenton Rocker, a native of Booneville, played in eight games for the Wolves as a linebacker. He totaled 22 tackles with 6.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

Tre Webb, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, played in all ten games for the Wolves as a cornerback. He totaled 17 tackles with one pass breakup and one block.

Jaylen Pettway, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, played in eight games for the Wolves as a quarterback. He completed 95 of 154 pass attempts for 1319 yards with ten touchdowns along with two rushing touchdowns.

The Wolves also had one player earn an "Of the Year" honor as Martavious Boswell was named the MACCC South Division Offensive Player of the Year.

The team also had several members earn NJCAA All-Region 23 honors including Martavious Boswell, Rakeem Davis, Archie Chambers, Doug Nelson, and Jarmaine Mitchell. Boswell was also named the Region 23 Player of the Year.
