Wolf Pack season comes to an end

WESSON – The Co-Lin Wolf Pack's season came to an end at the hands of the Baton Rouge Community College Bears 75-59 in the first round of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 Basketball Tournament.  

The Wolves (3-10, 2-9) never led in the contest. With 3:20 left in the first half, the Bears held a 33-22 lead. Co-Lin would go on a 9-3 run to cut the lead to 36-31 at halftime.

In the second half, the Wolves cut the lead to 41-39 with 15 minutes left in the game. The Bears would go on a 21-6 run with 7:39 remaining to go up 60-47 and Co-Lin would never recover.

Freshman Dee Merriweather (Memphis, TN/East Memphis High School) led the Wolves with a double-double, 15 points and 10 rebounds. AJ Wansley (Byrum/Terry High School) chipped in 10 points.

For Baton Rouge, Jaylhon Young had a game-high 24 points including six three-pointers. Julius Ellerbe added 18 point and led off the backboards with nine rebounds. Jordan Randall and Dewey Shannon added 15 and 10 points respectively. 

Baton Rouge will advance to the second round to play Northeast Mississippi in Booneville on Thursday, April 1.
