Wolves qualify for NJCAA District D Championship

MERIDIAN – The Co-Lin Wolves qualified for the National Junior College Athletic Association's (NJCAA) District D Championship by captured fourth place in the Mississippi Association of Community College Conference's (MACCC) State Tournament hosted by Meridian ­Community College at Briarwood Golf Club. 

"We didn't play as well today, but we held on for a fourth place finish," said Co-Lin golf coach Allen Kent. "Jordan (Davis) fired a team-low 76. We qualified for District next week at Reunion in Madison."

Northeast Mississippi came from behind to win the tournament posting a two-day total of 591 (298-293) to overtake first round leader Meridian Community College. Mississippi Gulf Coast, who started the day off in third place moved ahead of Meridian to capture second with a 595 (299-296). Meridian finished third at 605 (297-308) followed by Co-Lin at 626 (308-318). Rounding out the team scoring Itawamba 644 (323-321) Southwest Mississippi 647 (326-321), and Hinds 677 (346-331).

Individually, Co-Lin's Ty Nelson (Lawrence County High School) finished at 153 (75-78), Landon Nobles (Alexandria High School LA) posted a 157 (76-81) followed by Jordan Davis (Murray High School) at 158 (82-76), Nick Davis (Catholic High School) at 158 (76-81) and Ty Brewer (Wesson High School) at 179 (95-84). Matt Wilkinison of Mississippi Gulf Coast took medalist honors with a 145 (72-73).
