HOLLY SPRINGS,  Mississippi – The Co-Lin Wolves are sitting in third place after the first round of the NJCAA Division II Gulf District Tournament at Kirkwood National Golf Club in Holly Springs.  The Wolves shot an opening round 303, nine shots behind second place Meridian. Tournament leader Mississippi Gulf Coast shot a 3-over 291. Rounding out the remaining scores are Northeast Mississippi at 309 and Pearl River at 349.

"We are sitting in third place after day one," said Co-Lin head golf coach Allen Kent. "Conditions were wet and windy. Navid and Tanner played really well, as did Ty and Alex. We still have a chance as a team to make it to Nationals but have some ground to make up. Unless Northeast mounts a comeback in round two, Alex and Navid will qualify for the National Tournament. Tanner and Ty have a good chance to also qualify as individuals if they follow up with another good round tomorrow."

Individually for Co-Lin, Navid Mousavi and Tanner Harrison are tied for sixth place after firing a 2-over 74. Alex Navarro fired a 77 followed by Ty Nelson at 78 and Chandler Byrd at 82.
