Byrd, Navarro named to All-Tournament Team, Wolves finish fifth

NATCHEZ, Mississippi - The Co-Lin Wolves captured fifth place in the Mississippi Association of Community College Conference (MACCC) Co-Lin Invitational held at Beau Pre' Golf Club in Natchez. Mississippi Golf Coast won the team title with a two-day total of 589 (298-291) 18 strokes ahead of second place Meridian 607(307-300).

Itawamba finished third at 624 (306-318) followed by Pearl River at 628 (312-316) and Co-Lin at 638 (318-320). East Mississippi and East Central tied for sixth at 654. Other scores included Northeast Mississippi 657 (330-327), Hinds 661 (334-327), Jones 667 (331-336) and Southwest Mississippi 700 (352-348).

"Our team scores have got to get better," said Co-Lin Head Coach Allen Kent. "We have the talent to shoot lower scores, but have to get more mentally tough. I was very proud of Chandler Byrd (Wesson) and Alex Navarro (Valencia, Spain), who both made the All-Tournament Team. Chandler finally put two very solid rounds together. We know he's capable of doing this on a consistent basis. This should give him confidence in himself going forward."

Individually, Will Burnham of Mississippi Gulf Coast took medalist honors at 143 (72-71) one shot ahead of teammate Chase Kaiser 144 (74-70). Byrd finished third at 147 (73-74) followed by Noah Bumgarner of Meridian at 148 (75-73), Co-Lin's Navarro tied with Meridian's Luke Yocum at 149.

For Co-Lin, Navid Mousavi (Castellon, Spain) shot 156 (790-77) followed by Reese McLaurin (Laurel) at 170 (82-88), David Mercer (Madison) 172 (88-84) and Myles Walters (Laurel) 189 (91-98)
