Navarro captures medalist honors, Wolves finish fourth
MERIDIAN, Mississippi – Co-Lin sophomore Alex Navarro (Valencia, Spain) captured medalist honors in the third Mississippi Association of Community College Conference's (MACCC) golf tournament held at Briarwood Country Club in Meridian. The tournament host was Meridian Community College.
Navarro finished the two-day tournament of 146 (72-74) two shots in front of second place finisher Will Burnham of Mississippi Gulf Coast 74-74 – 148. First round leader Alessio Graziani of Mississippi Gulf Coast finished third at 70-79 – 149 followed by teammates Chase Kaiser at 72-78 – 150 and Kyle Davidson at 72-78 – 150 and Andrew Zielinski at 75-77 – 152.
For Co-Lin, Navid Mousavi (Castellon, Spain) finished at 85-76 – 161 (T18) followed by teammates Chandler Byrd (Wesson) 83-84 – 167, Reese McLaurin (Laurel) 86-83 – 169, Myles Walters (Laurel) 80-90 – 170, and David Mercer (Madison) 88-89 – 177.
Mississippi Gulf Coast ran away with the team title with a 599 (291-308), 39 strokes ahead of second place East Mississippi 638 (325-313). Meridian was third at 639 (327-312) followed by Co-Lin 643 (326-317), East Central and Pearl River 645 (324-321) and (317-328) respectively. Other scores were Itawamba 652 (323-329), Northeast Mississippi 672 (333-339), Hinds 685 (348-337), Jones 702 (358-344), and Southwest Mississippi 734 (384-350).
