Wolves finish fourth, Navarro qualifies for NJCAA National Tournament

NATCHEZ, Mississippi – The Co-Lin Wolves rallied past Jones College to capture fourth place in the NJCAA Golf District Tournament held at Beau Pre Country Club in Natchez. First round leader Mississippi Gulf Coast ran away with the championship finishing 40 shots (556) ahead of second place Meridian (596). Northeast Mississippi finished third at (606). The top three teams qualified for the NJCAA Division II National Tournament to be held May 23-26 at Swan Lake Golf Club in Plymouth, Indiana.

"We played a lot better today, bur had too much ground to make up," said Co-Lin Head Coach Allen Kent. "We just didn't get the team scores we needed both days. Alex had another solid tournament and qualified for Nationals based on his yearly scoring average."

Co-Lin sophomore Alex Navarro (Valencia, Spain) earned a return trip to the National Tournament by firing a 148 (74-74) for a sixth-place finish. Last year, Navarro finished in 11th place and was named NJCAA Second Team All-American.

Individually for the Wolf Pack Navid Mousavi (Castellon, Spain) and fellow sophomore Chandler Byrd (Wesson) finished at 154. Myles Walters (Laurel) fired 173 and Reese McLaurin (Laurel) at 179.
