Wolves Stumble Against Meridian

MERIDIAN – The Co-Lin Men's Soccer team faced defeat for the first time in the 2021 season in a road contest against Meridian. The Eagles took a 2-1 decision over the Wolves on Tuesday, September 14.

The first half ended in a scoreless tie as the two teams managed just four shots on goal combined with both goalies and defenses having strong showings throughout the rain-soaked half. The game remained scoreless until the 68th minute when the Eagles found the back of the net with a goal and then added their second goal just five minutes later in the 73rd minute.

The Wolves responded with a frenzied attack as their lone goal came in the 79th minute with a goal by sophomore forward Eli Fratesi (Leland) to cut the Eagles lead to 2-1. The Wolves continued their attack throughout the remainder of the game but could not get the equalizing goal giving the Eagles a 2-1 victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ben Parkinson (Bury, England) made two saves on four shots on goal throughout the match.

The Wolves are now 3-1-0 overall and 1-1-0 in South Division play. The Wolves return to action with their first home game of the 2021 season on Friday, September 17, against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. The action will kick off on the pitch at 1 p.m., at H.L. Stone Stadium.
