Wolves Stumble Against Eagles

WESSON – The Co-Lin Men's Soccer team returned to MACCC play hosting Hinds on Tuesday, September 23. The No. 10 Eagles beat the Wolves, 2-1.

The early part of the first half saw the teams fighting for possession and scoring chances but those were few and far between. However, the Eagles got on the board first as they scored in the 27th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Eagles then continued to limit scoring chances for the Wolves as the lead held at halftime.

The Eagles then added their second goal in the 56th minute to take a 2-0 lead. The Wolves then got on the board as Alvaro De La Torre (A Coruna, Spain) beat the Eagles keeper in the 86th minute to cut the lead to 2-1. The Wolves then dialed up the offensive pressure with several shots, but could not find an equalizer as the Eagles held on for the 2-1 win.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jaime Duran (Madison) saved five of seven shots faced throughout the match.

Co-Lin is now 3-2-1 overall and 1-1-1 in MACCC play and will return to action on the road against Itawamba on Friday, September 26. Kickoff between the Wolves and Indians is set for 3 p.m., in Fulton.
