WESSON, Miss. – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College men's tennis team dropped the season opener, 9-0, to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Thursday. The match was the first of the year and the Wolves will not return to the court on Saturday, February 9 as they host East Central Community College in Wesson. In singles action, Bradon Ishee fell to Gulf Coast's Austin Vos 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Drew Nelson fell to Nico Bettignie 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, while Toby White lost to Patrick Roth 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3. Jason Clayburn fell to Reid Crow 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
Ishee and Nelson teamed up at No. 1 doubles and fell to Vos and Cole Wagner 8-3, while White and Clayburn played No. 2 doubles. The duo lost to Evan Chubb and Roth, 8-0.
