Lady Wolves Rake In All-MACCC Honors
JACKSON – The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) announced the softball All-MACCC honorees on Thursday, May 15. The Lady Wolves have seven players taking eight spots on the lists for the 2024-25 season. Olivia Banes (Pelahatchie), Emily Richarde (Lakeland,TN), and Taylor Efferson (Holden, LA) were all named First Team All-MACCC while Efferson also earned a Second Team All-MACCC selection along with Morgan Chisolm (Madison) while Emeri Warren (Sebastopol), Carson Hughey (Brookhaven), and Brelie Phillips (Conehatta) were named Honorable Mention All-MACCC.
Olivia Banes had a superb sophomore season as she posted a .386 batting average going 64-for-166, which led the team in hits, at the plate with 53 runs scored while leading the team in RBIs with 48, was second in doubles with 17, and was tied for the team lead in home runs and third in triples with two. The 64 hits, 48 RBIs, 17 doubles, and 10 home runs are all Top 10 marks in the MACCC while her batting average is Top 15. She also posted a .432 on-base percentage, .693 slugging percentage and led the team in stolen bases at 33, which was tied for fourth-most in the conference. In the field, she posted a .932 fielding percentage with 49 putouts, 102 assists, 11 errors, and was part of six double plays.
Emily Richarde was a star in the circle during her sophomore season finishing the regular season a perfect 18-0 (13-0 in MACCC play) and currently sits at 20-1 overall. The 20 wins are the third-most in the MACCC while her 1.57 earned run average is fourth highest in the conference and her team-leading 129 strikeouts are a Top 10 mark in the conference. She has pitched 142.2 innings this season allowing 40 runs, 32 earned, on 74 hits with 70 walks.
Taylor Efferson was a two-way star for the Lady Wolves earning First Team All-MACCC as a designated player and Second Team All-MACCC as a pitcher. At the plate, she posted a .350 batting average going 50-for-143 with 26 runs scored and 44 RBIs. The 44 RBIs are a Top 10 mark in the MACCC. She has eight doubles on the season and is second on the team in home runs with nine, a mark that is just outside the Top 10 in the conference. She also led the team in walks with 25 and hit-by-pitch with eight while posting a .466 on-base percentage, and a .594 slugging percentage. In the circle, she finished 15-2 in the regular season and now sits at 16-2 with a 1.49 earned run average which is second in the MACCC while her 16 wins is tied for fifth-most. She also has two saves on the season to lead the team and that is fourth-most in the MACCC. She has pitched 117.1 innings allowing 43 runs, 25 earned, on 103 hits with 22 walks and 73 strikeouts.
Morgan Chisolm had a strong freshman season playing 29 games as a catcher for the Lady Wolves. She posted a .386 batting average going 32-for-83 at the plate with 25 runs scored and 20 RBIs. Chisolm had eight doubles, one triple, and five home runs this season along with one stolen base and six walks drawn while posting a .435 on-base percentage and a .687 slugging percentage. She posted 160 putouts, eight assists, and two errors while being part of three double plays and threw out nine runners this season.
Emeri Warren had a strong sophomore season in left field for the Lady Wolves playing in 46 games. She posted a .392 batting average going 49-for-125 at the plate with 39 runs scored and 30 RBIs. Warren had eight double, three triples (second on the team) with eight stolen bases and 13 walks drawn while posting a .454 on-base percentage and .504 slugging percentage. She also had a perfect fielding percentage with 43 putouts on the season.
Carson Hughey had a stellar sophomore season playing 46 games in centerfield for the Lady Wolves. She led the team with a .415 batting average going 49-for-118 with 29 runs scored and 26 RBIs. She had seven doubles, two triples, and one home run with six stolen bases and 14 walks drawn while posting .436 on-base percentage and .586 slugging percentage. Hughey posted a .981 fielding percentage with 52 putouts, one assist, and one error.
Brelie Phillips had a great freshman year playing all 48 games at shortstop for the Lady Wolves. She posted a .366 average going 60-for-164, the second-most hits on the team, and led the team in runs scored with 54 and third in RBIs with 41. She led the team in doubles and triples with 19 and four respectively and tied for the team lead in home runs with ten. The doubles were the second-most in the MACCC while the triples and home runs were Top 10 marks while the RBIs were Top 15. She was second on the team in walks and stolen bases at 22 and 17 respectively while posting a .438 on-base percentage and a .713 slugging percentage. She posted a .918 fielding percentage with 74 putouts, 60 assists, 12 errors, and was part of five double plays.
The Lady Wolves are 43-5 overall and set MACCC history with a 27-1 record for the best finish by a team ever. They have earned the No. 5 seed in the NJCAA Division II Softball National Tournament and will face off against the No. 12 seed Rock Valley on Monday, May 19 at 3 p.m., at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, AL.
