Howard Named MACCC Coach of the Year

JACKSON – After leading the Co-Lin Softball team to a record-breaking 27-1 finish in conference play, head coach Meleah Howard has been named the MACCC Coach of the Year.

The Lady Wolves started MACCC play by winning 15 straight until dropping game two of their doubleheader against the Bobcats to sit at 15-1. The team then won 12 straight on their way to a second-straight MACCC regular season championship representing the first time in program history that the Lady Wolves have won two-straight conference titles.

Through the national championship run, the Lady Wolves finished an outstanding 32-3 against MACCC opponents. Howard earned her 250th win at Co-Lin this season with the Lady Wolves 10-2 win against Hinds on April 23 and now has a career 261-62 for a career winning percentage of 80.8 percent in her seven seasons at Co-Lin. Including her high school coaching career, she has a 789-206 record for a career winning percentage of 79.2 percent.

Howard was also named the Gulf District A Coach of the Year as well as taking home the NJCAA DII National Tournament Coach of the Tournament award for the second time in the last three seasons.
