Sanders leads Lady Wolves past East Central
WESSON – Freshman Aniya Sanders scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Co-Lin Lady Wolves to a 64-54 win over the East Central Lady Warriors.
Co-Lin took a 26-24 into the locker room at the half.
The Lady Wolves outscored East Central 21-15 to their lead to 47-39 at the end of three quarters. The Lady Warriors could not gain any ground on Co-Lin in the fourth quarter.
Statistically, the two teams were fairly even with the exception at the free throw line. Co-Lin outshot the Lady Warriors from the free throw line 70.6 percent (12-of-17) to 57 percent (12-of-21).
Sanders (Vicksburg/Warren Central High School) was the only Co-Lin player in double figures. She also had nine rebounds, two assists and three steals. Orlandrea McGee (Forest/Forest High School) and Madelynn Webster (Pocahontas/Clinton High School) chipped in nine points apiece. Marvia Spann (Madison/Germantown High School) dished out eight assists. Jakiylah Esco (Ridgeland/Ridgeland High School) pulled down seven rebounds. Jana Case (Brookhaven/Brookhaven Academy) and McGee had three steals.
For East Central, Mer'Cedes Miller, Ja'Lancia Kohiheim and Mirial Cannon had 11 points apiece.
