Co-Lin Announces Lacey Kennedy as New Women’s Basketball Head Coach

WESSON - The Copiah-Lincoln Community College athletic department is pleased to announce the hiring of Lacey Kennedy as the new women's basketball head coach.

Kennedy comes to Co-Lin after serving as the assistant varsity girls coach and head ninth grade coach at Rosa Scott and Madison Central starting in 2025. Before that, Kennedy spent 13 years at Pearl High School where she was the head varsity girls basketball coach from 2012-25 and was head varsity volleyball coach from 2013-16. Kennedy also has head coaching experience from 2009-12 while at Picayune and 2007-08 at St. Patrick Catholic High School.

"We are excited to welcome Coach Lacey Kennedy to the Co-Lin family as our head women's basketball coach," said Co-Lin President Dr. Dewayne Middleton. "Coach Kennedy is a highly decorated collegiate athlete whose passion for the game is evident. She has built a reputation for instilling the toughness, discipline, and work ethic her teams need to compete at a high level. Her competitive drive, leadership, and commitment to helping young women succeed make her an outstanding fit for our women's basketball program. We are confident she will continue the proud tradition of Lady Wolves basketball."

Kennedy attended Mississippi College where she also played for the Lady Choctaws from 2002-07. During her career, she was the American Southwest Conference Freshman of the Year and Preseason Player of the Year, a two-time ASC Player of the Year, four-time First Team All East Division, All-Conference, and All-Tournament Team honoree, and is in the ASC record books for single game points scored, career points, and career rebounds. She also earned D3 Hoops All-American and First Team All-South Region honors during her career. Kennedy is also in the Mississippi College Athletics Hall of Fame.

"She is a leader with passion, drive and a proven track record of winning. Lacey brings an infectious energy that will elevate our team back to a championship standard."

Kennedy has also served in the United States Army since 2014 where she has received several commendations and medals for her service which includes serving during the Global War on Terrorism.
