Bio

Rachel Thompson is in her second year as assistant coach for the Lady Wolves. Thompson, a native of Summit, graduated from North Pike High School in 2016. She attended Southwest Mississippi Community College from 2016-2018 where she was a member of the Lady Bears basketball team. During her time at Southwest, she was named MACJC Player of the week, and helped lead the Lady Bears to the MACJC State tournament finals.

She then attended and continued her playing career at William Carey University from 2018 to 2020. During her time as a Lady Crusader, Thompson led the team in scoring and rebounding while earning Second-Team All-Conference honors her junior and senior years. She graduated from WCU with a bachelor’s degree in physical education.

Thompson’s coaching experience includes multiple years as a volunteer with the Summit Rotary Gym as well as a stint with her alma mater, Southwest Mississippi, as a volunteer assistant. During her time at Southwest, she coached players who received various recognitions including player of the week, all-conference, and all-star selections.
