WESSON – The Co-Lin Women's Soccer team played host to Dyersburg State Community College on Monday, September 27. The Lady Wolves had a dominate performance over the Lady Eagles taking the match, 5-1.
The Lady Wolves got on the board first as sophomore forward Taylor Ford (Florence) broke away from the Lady Eagles defense and blasted the ball past the goalie in the eighth minute with an assist from freshman defender Riely Laird (Clinton) giving the Lady Wolves a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Eagles tied the game with a goal in the tenth minute; however, the Wolf Pack wasted no time in retaking the lead as freshman midfielder Sarah Nalley (Brandon) scored an Olympic goal making the score 2-1.
The Lady Wolves held that lead through the remainder of the first half. The second half once again saw the Lady Wolves squad come out with a frenzied attack as the first score came in the 57th minute when freshman defender Madison Crain (Brandon) scored on a header with an assist from Sarah Nalley. One minute later, freshman forward Alana Dear (Madison) increased the lead to 4-1 with an assist from sophomore defender Mickie Palfreman (London, England). The final goal came in the 66th minute as sophomore midfielder Charlotte Lammiman (Hull, England) found the back of the net with an assist from Sarah Nalley, her second of the game. The Wolf Pack stalled the Lady Eagles attack for the remainder of the game and sealed the 5-1 victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper Alexandra Moon (Poynton with Worth, England) made three saves on four shots on goal, while freshman goalkeeper Olivia Burnham (Florence) saved all three shots on goal she faced in the second half.
The Wolves are now 2-6-0 overall on the season and will return to action with a match against Northwest Mississippi Community College on Friday, October 1. The action will kickoff at Noon at H.L. Stone Stadium.
