Co-Lin Announces Micheal Azira as New Women’s Soccer Head Coach
WESSON - The Copiah-Lincoln Community College athletic department is pleased to announce the hiring of Micheal Azira as the new women's soccer head coach.
Azira comes to Co-Lin after serving as the assistant coach for men's soccer at the University of Mobile since 2025. Before that, he was the head coach of men's soccer at Blue Mountain Christian University from 2023-24 and has been serving as the head coach for Mississippi Brilla since 2023.
"Getting Michael here is a gamechanger," stated Co-Lin Athletic Director Bryan Nobile. "His knowledge of the game is something we've never had before, and I am looking forward to seeing what he can do with our program in the years to come."
Azira also brings a wealth of professional and national team experience as he played with the national team of Uganda from 2013-21 and was part of the team that played in the African Cup of Nations. He also has experience playing for the Charleston Battery (2012-13) and the New Mexico United (2021-22) as part of the USL and played in the MLS from 2014 through 2020 with the Seattle Sounders, Colorado Rapids, Montreal Impact, and the Chicago Fire.
Azira attended Lindsey Wilson College from 2008-2010 where he was a part of the men's soccer team that was NAIA Champions in 2009 while he earned All-Conference honors. He then attended the University of Mobile where he also played for the men's soccer team earning NAIA Honorable Mention All-American honors and earned his bachelor's degree in business administration. Azira earned his master's degree in sports management from Southern New Hampshire University in 2021.
He and his wife, Callaghan, have two children, Gabriel and Noa-Grace.
