Lady Wolves blank Itawamba 9-0

WESSON – The No. 25 Co-Lin Lady Wolves blanked the Itawamba Community College Lady Indians 9-0 in tennis action Friday.

"Itawamba was missing two players today," said tennis coach Brenda Smith. "Faith (Bergeron) and Ashlyn (Locke) looked sharp in singles and doubles. Katy and Kara (Clark) did a good job moving the ball around the court too."

The Lady Wolves swept all three matches. At No. 1, Ximena Daza and Carmen Manicea defeated Caroline Ferguson and Madison Mayhall 8-1. Ashlyn Locke and Faith Bergeron beat Claire Ferguson and Liz Jiminez 8-3 at No. 2 and Katy and Kara Clark won at No. 3 by default.

In singles action, Daza beat Mayhall 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2. At No. 2, Manicea beat Caroline Ferguson 6-2, 6-2, Katy Clark beat Claire Ferguson 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3, Kara Clark beat Georgia Campbell 6-2, 6-0, and Locke defeated of Jiminez6-1, 6-0. ICC forfeited at No. 6.

The Lady Wolves (10-3) will be back in action next week at the MACJC State Tennis Tournament.
