Tennis Has Perfect Day Against Holmes

GOODMAN, Miss. – The Co-Lin men's and women's tennis teams traveled to Holmes on Friday, February 27, to take on the Bulldogs. Both teams dominated the day, earning 9-0 victories.

WOMEN'S MATCH

The Lady Wolves swept all three doubles points as Georgina Labusch (Verl, Germany) and Ruri Takeuchi (Chiba, Japan) earned a 9-0 win in one doubles. Domenica Gruezo (Quito, Ecuador) and Ady Locke (Brookhaven, Miss) followed with a 9-0 victory at two doubles, while Allie Grace McNeill (Brookhaven) and Clara Barton Calcote (Wesson, Miss) completed the sweep with a 9-0 win at three doubles.

In singles play, the Lady Wolves claimed all six matches and did not allow Holmes to score a single point, with every match ending in 6-0, 6-0 decisions. Takeuchi earned the win at one singles, followed by Gruezo at two singles. Labusch secured the victory at three singles, while Locke won at four singles. Calcote added the point at five singles, and Ella Thompson (Brookhaven) completed the sweep at six singles to secure the 9-0 victory for the Lady Wolves.

MEN'S MATCH

The Wolves also swept all three matches in doubles as Nikoloz Gurgenidze (Tbilisi, Georgia) and Jake Bucek (Geelong, Australia) earned an 8-0 win at one doubles. Nick Tozer (Belrose, Australia) and Jax Leggett (Bogue Chitto, Miss) secured an 8-0 victory at two doubles, and James Rooks (Jackson, Miss) and Lane Breland (Perkinston, Miss) completed the sweep with an 8-0 win at three doubles.

In singles action, the Wolves won all six matches. Gurgenidze earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at one singles, and Tozer followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win at two singles. Bucek picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory at three singles, while Rooks added a 6-0, 6-0 win at four singles. Mason Brand secured a 6-3, 6-0 victory at five singles, and Leggett closed out the day with a 6-0, 6-0 win at six singles.

With the wins, the ladies improve to 4-0 (3-0), while the men move to 3-1 (2-1). Both teams return to action Tuesday, March 3 at Southwest.
