Hanlon then stole second and advanced to third on an error while Donovan Moore (Roxie) drew a walk to put two runners on with one out. Back-to-back RBI-singles by Jacob Chancelor (Brandon) and John Mark Grissom (Pearl) then scored Hanlon and Moore respectively while increasing the Wolves lead to 4-0.
The Pelicans then plated two runs in the top of the second to cut the Wolves lead in half at 4-2. The Pelicans then used back-to-back home runs in the top of the third to tie the game while a walk then ended Weinhofer's day as the Wolves turned to Lucian Walker (Starkville) in relief. The Pelicans then added a third run in the inning to take a 5-4 lead over the Wolves.
That lead held until the Wolves exploded for five runs in the bottom of the fourth as Chancelor led off the inning reaching on an error and advanced to third on a double by Grissom. Brady White (Ethel) then delivered an RBI-single, scoring Chancelor, and tying the game at 5-5. Evan Holifield (Stringer) then reached on an error to load the bases with no outs for the Wolves.
