Wolves Drop Two Against Bossier Parish
BOSSIER CITY, La. – The Co-Lin Baseball team hit the road for a pair of games against Bossier Parish on Monday, February 16. The Wolves got swept by the Cavaliers dropping game one, 6-3, and game two, 9-0.
GAME ONE
The Wolves got on the board first with a pair of runs in the top of the second as Donovan Moore (Roxie) reached on an error while John Mark Grissom (Pearl) drew a walk to put two runners on with no outs. Later in the inning, Moore scored as Caleb Brooks (Brandon) reached on an error while Grissom then scored on a sacrifice fly by Jacob Chancelor (Brandon) making the score, 2-0.
The Cavaliers responded with five runs in the bottom of the second including a game-tying two-run home run to take a 5-2 lead. The Cavaliers then added one run in the bottom of the third to extend their lead to 6-2.
The Wolves then added a single run in the top of the sixth as Bryson Jones (Brandon) hit a two-out double and advanced to third as Avery Griffin (Brookhaven) drew a walk to put two runners on. Jones then scored on an RBI-single Trey Davidson (Brandon) making the score, 6-3. Bradley Hanlon (Monroe, LA) was then hit-by-pitch to load the bases, but a strikeout ended the inning before the Wolves could score again. The Wolves then drew a leadoff walk in the top of the seventh, but three straight strikeouts brought the inning to an end to seal the 6-3 win for Cavaliers.
The Wolves totaled five hits as Bryson Jones and Trey Davidson had two hits each while Bradley Hanlon had one hit. Davidson and Jacob Chancelor had one RBI each.
Cohen Weinhofer (Ocean Springs) got the start and took the loss (0-1) with four innings pitched allowing six runs, all earned, on three hits with four walks and four strikeouts. MT Breland (Columbia) pitched one inning of relief with one walk while Caleb Flynn (Laurel) pitched one inning of relief with one hit and one strikeout.
GAME TWO
The Wolves had limited scoring chances in game two as they had three innings where multiple runners got on base during the game while the Cavaliers scored one in the first, three in the third, four in the fourth, and one in the sixth to take game two, 9-0.
The Wolves totaled four hits as a team with Bryson Jones, Trey Davidson, Bradley Hanlon, and Hayes Hebert having one hit each.
Akavion Griffith (Magee) got the start and took the loss (0-2) while pitching three innings and allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits with three walks. Lucian Walker (Starkville) pitched 1.1 innings of relief allowing four runs, all earned, on four hits with one strikeout. Jacob Buffalo (Foxworth) pitched 0.1 innings of relief allowing two unearned runs with two walks while Ty Blakeney pitched 1.1 innings of relief allowing one earned run with four walks.
Co-Lin is now 7-5 overall and will return to action this weekend with a home and home series against Marion Military with a pair of games on Saturday, February 21, on the road, and then a single game at Sullivan Field on Sunday, February 22.
