WESSON – The Co-Lin Baseball team returned to action on Tuesday, March 2, hosting East Central and Gulf Coast. The Wolves split the day as they dropped their first game of the day to the Warriors, 4-3, but then rebounded for a 10-3 victory over the Bulldogs.

The Warriors scored all four of the runs in the first two innings with a single run in the first and a three-run home run in the second to hold a 4-0 lead over the Wolves at that point.
However, the Wolves responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third as Brady White (Ethel) hit a leadoff double, Evan Holifield (Stringer) drew a walk, and Bryson Jones (Brandon) singled to load the bases with no outs. Avery Griffin (Brookhaven) then hit an RBI-single scoring White and cutting the lead down to 4-1. Later in the inning, Bradley Hanlon (Monroe, LA) hit a sacrifice fly scoring Holifield to make the score, 4-2. Donovan Moore (Roxie) then drew a walk to load the bases with two outs, but a strikeout but the rally to an end.
That score held with neither team getting a runner past second base until the Wolves struck for a run in the bottom of the eighth as Griffin led off the inning being hit-by-pitch. Later in the inning, Hanlon and Moore drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. After a strikeout, Matthew Combs (Hurley) drew a walk scoring Griffin and cutting the lead to 4-3 while maintaining the bases loaded threat for the Wolves. However, a strikeout brought the rally to an end.
The Wolves then got the potential tying run on first base after Jones was hit-by-pitch with one out in the bottom of the ninth. But a double play ended the game and sealed the win for the Warriors, 4-3.
The Wolves totaled four hits as a team with Bryson Jones, Avery Griffin, Matthew Combs, and Brady White having one hit each. Griffin, Combs, and Bradley Hanlon had one RBI each.

The Bulldogs then took advantage of an error by the Wolves to plate a run and take a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth.
That score held until the Wolves exploded for six runs in the bottom of the fifth as Evan Holifield drew a leadoff walk, Jones singled, and Griffin walked to load the bases with no outs. Trey Davidson (Brandon) then hit a two-RBI double scoring Holfield and Jones while a second-straight, two-RBI double by Bradley Hanlon scored Griffin and Davidson giving the Wolves a 5-2 lead.
