Wolves Shutout Leads to Sweep of Bulldogs

GOODMAN – The Co-Lin Baseball team hit the road for the final time in the 2026 regular season to face off against Holmes on Saturday, April 25. The Wolves swept the Bulldogs shutting them out in game one, 10-0, and taking game two, 14-8.

GAME ONE

The Wolves scored their first three runs in the top of the first as Bryson Jones led off the inning being hit-by-pitch. Jones then scored on an RBI-double by Donovan Moore (Roxie) giving the Wolves a 1-0 lead. Moore then scored on a passed ball while Bradley Hanlon (Monroe, LA) drew a walk making the score, 2-0. Later in the inning, Hanlon scored on an RBI-groundout increasing the lead to 3-0.

The Wolves added a single run in the top of the second as Avery Griffin (Brookhaven) and then later scored on an RBI-single by Jones making the lead, 4-0. The Wolves then added two runs in the top of the fourth as Griffin hit a leadoff triple and then scored as Brady White (Ethel) reached on a fielder's choice. After White was caught stealing, Evan Holifield (Stringer) drew a walk and later scored on an error in the inning pushing the lead to 6-0.

The Wolves added a single run in the top of the fifth as Matthew Combs (Hurley) crushed a 2-2 pitch over the left field fence making the score, 7-0. The final three runs came in the top of the eighth as Jones hit a one-out single to get the offense started. Moore then ambushed and smashed the first pitch he saw over the fence in left field for a two-run home run increasing the lead to 9-0. Hanlon then followed with a double and scored on an RBI-single by John Mark Grissom (Pearl) making the score, 10-0.

The Bulldogs then drew a walk with one out in the bottom of the eighth, but a double play ended the inning securing the victory for the Wolves.

The Wolves totaled 11 hits as Donovan Moore went 3-for-3 at the plate while Bryson Jones, John Mark Grissom, and Avery Griffin had two hits apiece with Bradley Hanlon and Matthew Combs adding one hit each. Moore led the Wolves in RBIs with three while Combs had two with Jones and Brady White adding one RBI each.

Tanner Blackwell (Flora) got the start and improved to 3-1 with the win while pitching seven innings and allowing four hits with one walk and four strikeouts. Cohen Weinhofer (Ocean Springs) pitched one inning of hitless and scoreless relief with one walk.

GAME TWO

The Wolves got on the board first as they scored four runs in the top of the first as Bryson Jones drew a leadoff walk to get the offense going. Donovan Moore then crushed a 1-1 pitch over the fence in left field for a two-run home run giving the Wolves a 2-0 lead. Later in the inning, John Mark Grissom drew a walk with one out while Matthew Combs then smashed a 1-2 pitch over the left field fence for a two-run home run increasing the lead to 4-0. The Bulldogs responded with three runs in the bottom half cutting the lead down to 4-3.

However, the Wolves answered with three runs in the top of the second as Evan Holifield hit a leadoff single and later scored on an RBI-double by Moore making the score, 5-3. Bradley Hanlon then reached on an error to put two runners on while later in the inning, Combs hit a two-out, two-RBI single scoring Moore and Hanlon increasing the lead to 7-3.

The Wolves then added two more runs in the top of the third as Bryan Travis (Gulfport) and Holifield hit a single to put runners on the corner with one out. Travis then scored on a sacrifice fly by Jones while Holifield later scored on an error extending the lead to 9-3.

The Bulldogs then scored three runs cutting the lead down to 9-6. The Bulldogs then plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it a one-run game at 9-8. However, the Wolves responded with a pair of solo home runs in the top of the sixth as Moore crushed a 3-2 pitch over the left field fence for his third of the day while Hanlon demolished the very next pitch for back-to-back jacks increasing the lead to 11-8.

The Wolves added three runs in the top of the seventh as Avery Griffin and Brady White hit back-to-back singles to put two runners on with no outs. Later in the inning, back-to-back RBI singles by Jones and Moore scored Griffin and White respectively while an RB-single by Hanlon scored Jones pushing the lead to 14-8.

The Bulldogs then went strikeout, single, flyout, walk, flyout in the bottom of the seventh to secure the game two victory and sweep for the Wolves.

The Wolves totaled 15 hits on the day as Donovan Moore led the way with four hits while Bradley Hanlon, Matthew Combs, Avery Griffin, and Evan Holifield had two hits apiece with Bryson Jones, Bryan Travis, and Brady White had one hit each. Moore led the Wolves in RBIs with five while Combs had four RBIs with Jones and Hanlon adding two RBIs each.

Jennings Kimbrell (Flowood) got the start and improved to 5-3 overall with the win while pitching 3.2 innings and allowing six runs, five earned, on ten hits with three strikeouts. Nash Sturdivant (Brandon) pitched 0.2 innings of relief allowing two earned rusn on three hits while Cohen Weinhofer pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless relief allowing three hits with one walk and one strikeout.

Co-Lin improves to 31-18 overall, 16-10 in MACCC play and will return to action hosting the regular season finale on Tuesday, April 28 against Coahoma. First pitch between the Tigers and the Wolves is set for 2 p.m., at Sullivan Field in Wesson.
