Wolves Stay Undefeated in Conference Play

WESSON – The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team hosted Holmes in MACCC play on Tuesday, January 20. The Wolves weathered a second half comeback by the Bulldogs and pulled away late for an 81-68 victory.

The two teams opened red hot offensively as the Wolves used a 9-6 scoring run to hold a lead over the Bulldogs with 16:16 left to play. The Wolves then went on an 11-2 scoring run to extend their lead to 20-8 with 11:25 remaining. The Bulldogs then responded with a 21-11 scoring run to cut the Wolves lead down to 31-29 with 3:57 left in the first half. However, the Wolves responded with a 4-3 run to extend their lead to 35-32 as the teams headed to the locker rooms for halftime.

The Bulldogs opened the second half with a 10-7 scoring run to tie the game at 42-42 with 16:15 left on the clock. Both teams matched scoring totals adding 14 points each to keep the game tied at 56-56 with 10:36 remaining in the half. The Wolves then went on an offensive flurry with a 12-2 scoring run to take a 68-58 lead with 4:58 left in the game. The Wolves closed out the game with a 13-10 scoring run to secure the 81-68 victory over the Bulldogs.

The Wolves had four players in double-digit scoring figures as Tyrell Bowles (Springdale, MD) led the way for the Wolves offensively with 22 points and five rebounds along with one assist and two blocks while Moustapha Salekh (Ngekoh, Senegal) gave a big boost off the bench with 15 points with three rebounds and two assists. Koie Williams (Philadelphia) and Dylan Creggett (DeSoto, TX) had 12 points each with Williams adding six rebounds and five assists while Creggett added five rebounds, four assists, and one steal.

Morris Hammond (Ridgeland) had nine points with eight rebounds, two assists, and one steal while Tristian Lucas (Pearl) had eight points. Caleb Crozier (Yazoo City) had three points with three rebounds and two assists to round out the scoring for the Wolves.

Co-Lin improves to 10-6 overall, 3-0 in MACCC play, and will return to action on the road against Itawamba on Thursday, January 22. Tip-off between the Wolves and the Indians is set for 7:30 p.m., at the Davis Events Center in Fulton.
