Wolves Season Ends in Region 23 Tournament First Round

POPLARVILLE – The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team hit the road for postseason play as they faced off against Pearl River on Thursday, March 5. The Wildcats beat the Wolves, 80-56, to end the season in the Region 23 Tournament First Round.

The Wildcats jumped ahead of the Wolves with the first six points of the game, but Dylan Creggett hit a jumper at the 15:50 mark making the score, 6-2. The Wolves then went on a 12-3 scoring run and took the lead making the score, 14-9, after a jumper by LeBron Deal (Monroe, LA) with 11:01 left to play. The Wildcats then went on an 8-2 run taking a one-point lead, 17-16, with 5:46 remaining in the first half. The Wildcats then closed out the half with a 10-8 scoring run pushing their lead to 27-24 as the teams entered the locker rooms at halftime.

The Wildcats opened the second half with a 13-7 run to push their lead to 41-30 with 16:28 left on the clock. The Wildcats then used a 12-5 scoring run extending their lead to 53-35 with 11:02 remaining. The Wolves responded with a 12-10 scoring run cutting the lead down to 63-47 after a pair of free throws by Creggett at 5:35 mark. The Wildcats then closed out the game with a 17-9 scoring run to seal the 80-56 win.

LeBron Deal led the Wolves offensively with 17 points along with two rebounds, three assists, and two steals while Dylan Creggett had 11 points with one assist and three steals. Moustapha Salekh (Ngekoh, Senegal) narrowly missed a double-double with eight points and nine rebounds while Tyrell Bowles (Springdale, MD) also flirted with a double-double with seven points and seven rebounds. Morris Hammond (Ridgeland) had six points, Tristian Lucas (Pearl) had five points, and Caleb Crozier (Yazoo City) had two points to round out the scoring for the Wolves.

Co-Lin finishes the season 14-14 overall.
