DECATUR – The Co-Lin Men's Soccer team faced off against East Central in a road contest on Tuesday, October 5. The Wolves secured a hard fought 4-3 win over the Warriors.
The Wolf Pack got on the board first as freshman midfielder Zach Sorey (Flowood) put the ball in the top-right corner of the goal in the third minute with an assist from sophomore midfielder Jared Thompson (Hattiesburg). However, the Warriors tied the game at 1-1 midway through the first half with a goal in the 22nd minute and the game remained tied through halftime.
The Wolves regained the lead early in the second half as sophomore forward Eli Fratesi (Leland) found the back of the net in the 50th minute making the score 2-1. Freshman forward Hardy Lewis (Brandon) scored in the 64th minute with a header from a corner kick by Zach Sorey, earning Sorey his first assist of the game and increasing the Wolves lead to 3-1.
The Warriors once again tied the game as they scored two goals in the 76th and 82nd minutes making the score 3-3. However, the Wolves gained their third lead of the game as Hardy Lewis scored his second goal of the game again with a header from a corner kick by Zach Sorey (his second assist of the game), making the score 4-3 in the 88th minute. The Wolves stalled out the Warriors offense for the remainder of the match securing the 4-3 win.
Sophomore goalkeeper Ben Parkinson (Bury, England) made two saves on four shots on goal, while freshman goalkeeper Joshua Patton (Jackson) made one save on two shots on goal.
The Wolves are now 5-4-0 overall and will return to action with a road contest against Hinds on Friday, October 8. The action on the pitch will kickoff at 7 p.m., at Rene Warren Field.
