WESSON – The Co-Lin Men's Soccer team continued MACCC play by hosting East Central on Friday, October 10. The Wolves pulled away late from the Warriors in a 3-1 win.
Both teams found scoring chances early in the match, but neither could find the back of the net as there was no score after the end of the first half.
The second half saw an offensive flurry from both teams as the Wolves got on the board first when Caden Walley (Madison) beat the Warriors keeper with an assist from Alvara De La Torre (A Coruna, Spain) in the 58th minute to take a 1-0 lead. However, the Warriors responded with a goal just five minutes later to tie the match at 1-1.
That score held until the 77th minute when Yohan Bedoya (Bogota, Colombia) blasted a ball past the keeper with an assist from Finley Sugg (Southampton, England) to give the Wolves a 2-1 lead. Bedoya then got an assist as Hudson McIntyre (Brandon) scored in the 83rd minute to increase the lead to 3-1. The Wolves did not allow a shot on goal by the Warriors in the final seven minutes to secure the 3-1 victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jaime Duran (Madison) saved seven of eight shots on goal faced throughout the match.
Co-Lin improves to 5-3-2 overall, 3-2-2 in MACCC play, and will return to action on the road against Gulf Coast on Tuesday, October 14. Kickoff between the Bulldogs and the Lady Wolves is set for 7 p.m., in Perkinston.
