Wolves Earn Clean Sheet Against Bulldogs

WESSON – The Co-Lin Men's Soccer team resumed MACCC play by hosting Holmes on Tuesday, October 21. The Wolves dominated the match and earned a clean sheet with a 3-0 victory over the Bulldogs.

The teams battled back and forth throughout the opening minutes of the first half firing shots on goal but neither finding an early score. The Wolves then picked up a man advantage as the Bulldogs had a player earn his second yellow card in the 28th minute of the match. The Wolves used that advantage to dial up the offensive pressure and broke the scoreless stalemate as Justin Singleton (Clinton) found the back of the net with an assist from Finley Sugg (Southampton, England) in the 43rd minute. That 1-0 lead held for the final two minutes of the first half.

The Wolves then continued the offensive pressure on the Bulldogs while limiting their scoring chances throughout the second half. They extended their lead with a pair of goals late both from Alvaro De La Torre (A Coruna, Spain) as he scored in the 78th minute with an assist from Sugg and the 80th minute with an assist from Yohan Bedoya (Bogota, Colombia). The Wolves also missed a late penalty kick attempt that kept the score at 3-0 with around six minutes remaining in the match. The Wolves then allowed just one shot on goal in the final minutes to secure the 3-0 victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jaime Duran (Madison) saved all six shots on goal faced while playing 84 and a half minutes while freshman keeper Adam Hood (Hattiesburg) closed out the match playing the final five and a half minutes in goal.

Co-Lin is now 7-4-2 overall, 4-3-2 in MACCC play, and will hit the road for the final time in the regular season as they play Jones on Friday, October 24. The action on the pitch between the No. 10 Bobcats and the Wolves kicks off at 8:00 p.m., in Ellisville.
