POPLARVILLE – The Co-Lin Men's Soccer team took to the road to face off against Pearl River in the Gulf South District Quarterfinals on Friday, October 31. The Wolves fell to the No. 8 Wildcats, 3-2.
The Wildcats got out in front early as they took the lead with a goal in the 15th minute. However, just three minutes later the Wolves found the equalizer as Yohan Bedoya (Bogota, Colombia) converted a penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1. That scoreline held throughout the remainder of play in the first half as the teams went to halftime tied.
The Wildcats regained the lead in the second half with a goal in the 65th minute and then extended the lead to 3-1 with a goal in the 80th. The Wolves cut the lead down to 3-2 with a goal by Erick Martinez (Clinton) in the 87th minute, but ultimately could not find an equalizer in the final three minutes to extend the match.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jaime Duran (Madison) saved five of eight shots on goal faced throughout the match.
Co-Lin finishes the season with an overall record of 8-6-2, 5-4-2 in MACCC play.
