WESSON – The Co-Lin Women's Soccer team continued MACCC play by hosting Hinds on Tuesday, September 23. The Lady Eagles beat the Lady Wolves, 4-1.
The Lady Eagles got on the board first as they scored in the 15th minute to take an early 1-0 lead. The Lady Wolves looked to find an equalizer in the first half and ultimately did as Campbell Miller beat the keeper (Madison) with an assist from Evie Manders (Shrewsbury, England) to score her first career goal and tie the game at 1-1 in the 38th minute. However, the Lady Eagles scored just two minutes later to take a 2-1 lead and kept the Lady Wolves from equalizing to hold that lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Lady Eagles added goals in the 54th and 58th minutes to extend their lead to 4-1. The Lady Wolves continued to try and fight their way back into the match but could not find the back of the net again as the Lady Eagles secured the 4-1 win.
Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Conway (Huddersfield, England) saved five of eight shots faced throughout the match in 80 minutes of play while freshman goalkeeper Katherine Romero (Bude) allowed a goal on the only shot she faced in the match while playing ten minutes.
Co-Lin is now 3-2-1 overall and 1-1-1 in MACCC play and will return to action on the road against Itawamba on Friday, September 26. Kickoff between the Lady Wolves and Lady Indians is set for 1 p.m., in Fulton.
