Wolves Comeback Falls Short Against Dolphins

WESSON – The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team continued their season opening homestand by hosting Delgado on Friday, November 7. The Wolves used a strong second half comeback effort but came up just short against the Dolphins falling, 74-69.

The Wolves opened the game with a 16-7 scoring run capped off by a Tyrell Bowles (Springdale, MD) free throw to seal an and one opportunity to hold a lead by that margin with 15:43 left to play. The Dolphins responded with a 12-4 scoring run, but the Wolves held the lead at 20-19 with 10:10 remaining in the first half. The Dolphins then used a 15-9 scoring run to take a 34-29 lead over the Wolves with 4:44 left on the clock. The Wolves closed out the first half with a 10-8 scoring run, but the Dolphins held a 42-39 lead as the teams entered the locker rooms at halftime.

The Dolphins opened the second half with a 13-5 scoring run to push their lead to 55-44 with 15:01 left on the clock. The Wolves then responded with a 6-5 scoring run capped off by a pair of free throws by Koie Williams (Philadelphia) to cut the lead down to 58-50 with 9:53 left in the game. The Wolves then used an 11-7 scoring run to cut the lead down to 65-61 with 4:47 left to play. The Dolphins then used a 9-8 scoring run to close out the game as the Wolves never cut the lead under four points to seal the 74-69 win.

Tyrell Bowles led the way for the Wolves as he led all players in scoring and rebounds with 26 and nine respectively, narrowly missing his third-straight double-double. Dylan Creggett (DeSoto, Texas) had 17 points with one rebound and two assists while Tristian Lucas (Pearl) had 11 points with three rebounds and one assist.

Caleb Crozier (Yazoo City) had four points, LeBron Deal (Monroe, Louisiana) had three points while Moustapha Selakh (Nkegoh, Senegal), Koie Williams, Morris Hammond (Ridgeland), and Jackson Payne (Madison) had two points each to round out the scoring for the Wolves.

Co-Lin is now 2-2 overall and returns to action hosting Shelton State on Monday, November 10. Tip-off between the Bucs and the Wolves is set for 7:30 p.m., at Mullen Gym in Wesson.
