Wolves Falter Against Indians
FULTON – The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team continued conference play with a road game against Itawamba on January 22. The Wolves could not muster enough offense to overcome the Indians falling, 79-55.
The Wolves sputtered out of the gate offensively early in the first half as the Indians outscored them 20-9 to hold the lead by that margin nearly halfway through. The Wolves had several chances to get the game to a one score deficit, but never could as the Indians held them off and outscored them 20-15 to close out the half holding a 40-24 lead as the teams entered the locker rooms at halftime.
The Wolves offensive struggles continued into the second half, but they found a late surge to keep the half closer. However, the Indians outscored the Wolves, 39-31, to secure the 79-55 win.
Morris Hammond (Ridgeland) led the way offensively for the Wolves with 14 points and narrowly missed a double-double with eight rebounds while Tyrell Bowles (Springdale, MD) flirted with a double-double posting nine points and nine rebounds. Jamei McGhee (Heidelberg) had eight points with two rebounds and one assist.
Tristian Lucas (Pearl) had six points while Moustapha Salekh (Ngekoh, Senegal) and LeBron Deal had five points each with Dylan Creggett (DeSoto, TX) and Stevent Watkins (Ridgeland) had four points apiece to round out the scoring for the Wolves.
Co-Lin is now 10-7 overall, 3-1 in MACCC play, and will return to action on the road against Northeast on Thursday, January 29 with the postponement of their home game against Coahoma to Saturday, January 31. Tip-off between the Wolves and the Tigers is set for 7:30 p.m., at Bonner Arnold Coliseum in Booneville.
