Wolves Comeback Effort Falls Short Against Bobcats

ELLISVILLE – The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team returned to MACCC play on the road against Jones on Monday, February 16. The Wolves used a second half surge in a comeback effort against the Bobcats, but came up short falling 78-69.

The teams traded baskets and leads in the opening minutes of the first half, but the Wolves held a lead at 9-7 with 14:30 left on the clock. The Bobcats responded with a 17-10 scoring run to take a 24-19 lead over the Wolves with 9:43 remaining. The Bobcats then used a 7-3 scoring run to push their lead to 31-22 with 5:30 left to play. The Wolves then closed out the quarter with 10-2 scoring run to cut the Bobcats lead down to 33-32 as the teams entered the locker rooms for halftime.

The Wolves then opened the second half with a 9-7 scoring run to take a 41-40 lead over the Bobcats with 15:08 remaining. The Bobcats responded with a 9-8 scoring run to tie the game at 49-49 with 9:52 left on the clock. The Bobcats then used an 18-9 scoring run to take a 67-58 lead over the Wolves with 4:51 left in the game. Both teams then added 11 points each to their scoring totals to close out the game as the Bobcats held off the Wolves for the 78-69 win.

Tyrell Bowles (Springdale, MD) led the way for the Wolves with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds while Tristian Lucas (Pearl) provided a spark off the bench with 16 points along with two rebounds and two assists with Koie Williams (Philadelphia) adding 12 points with and seven assists.

Morris Hammond (Ridgeland) and Caleb Crozier (Yazoo City) had eight points each while LeBron Deal (Monroe, LA) had four points with Moustapha Salekh (Ngekoh, Senegal) adding two points to round out the scoring for the Wolves.

Co-Lin is now 12-10 overall, 5-4 in MACCC play, and will return to action hosting Southwest on Thursday, February 19. Tip-off between the Bears and Wolves is set for 7:30 p.m., at Mullen Gym in Wesson.
