Wesson – The Co-Lin Men's Soccer team hosted their home opener against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Friday, September 17. The Bulldogs took the match over the Wolves, 2-1, in overtime.
Neither team found the net in the first half with the squads combing for just six shots and only three were on goal.
The contest remained scoreless through the first part of the second half until the Wolves got on the board in the 67th minute as sophomore midfielder Matt Preston (Manchester, England) found the back of the net with an assist from freshman forward Zach Sorey (Flowood). The game was tied up in the 81st minute with a successful penalty kick by the Bulldogs evening the game at 1-1, which held until the end of regulation sending the game into overtime.
The Bulldogs scored the game-winning goal in the 93rd minute giving them a 2-1 win over the Wolves.
Sophomore goalkeeper Ben Parkinson (Bury, England) saved seven of nine shots on goal throughout the match.
The Wolves are now 3-2-0 overall and 1-2-0 in South Division play. The Wolves will continue South Division play with a home contest against Pearl River Community College on Tuesday, September 21. The action on the pitch will kickoff at 7 p.m., at H.L. Stone Stadium.
