Wolves Dominate Warhawks

WESSON – The Co-Lin Men's Soccer team wrapped up the non-conference portion of the regular season by hosting Calhoun on Friday, October 17. The Wolves dominated the match en route to a 9-1 victory over the Warhawks.

The Wolves scored the quickest goal of the season as Finley Sugg (Southampton, England) beat the keeper with an assist from Ethan Barnes (Port Orange, FL) 30 seconds into the match. Ethan Sharpe then scored his first goal of the season on a penalty kick in the eighth minute to increase the lead to 2-0. Sugg then got a brace for the match with his second goal in the 19th minute pushing the lead to 3-0.

Yohan Bedoya (Bogota, Colombia) then found the back of the net for his first goal in the 26th minute pushing the lead to 4-0. The final two goals of the first half both featured Aden Lowry (Pearl) as he scored in the 34th minute with an assist from Jeffrey Roth (Flowood) and then assisted on a goal by Braxton Williams (Flowood), for his first of the season, in the 41st minute making the lead, 6-0.

The Wolves then picked right back up scoring quickly in the second half as Robin Feliciano (Carthage) beat the keeper with an assist from Barnes in the 47th minute to make the lead, 7-0. The Warhawks then took advantage of a mistake by the Wolves and netted their only goal of the match in the 57th minute cutting the lead down to 7-1. Bedoya then earned a hat trick for the match as he scored two goals in two minutes in the 64th and 66th to make the score, 9-1. The match was then called at the 70-minute mark to secure the 9-1 victory.

Freshman goalkeeper Adam Hood (Hattiesburg) saved three of four shots on goal while playing 60 minutes with sophomore keeper Jaime Duran (Madison) saving one shot on goal in the final ten minutes.

Co-Lin is now 6-4-2 overall and will return to MACCC action hosting Holmes on Tuesday, October 21. The action on the pitch between the Wolves and the Bulldogs kicks off at 8 p.m., at Stone Stadium in Wesson.
