Wolves Split Games At Coca-Cola Classic

SUMMIT – The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team played a pair of games during the Coca-Cola Classic at Southwest Mississippi Community College. The Wolves split their games as they beat the Bears of Baton Rouge Community College, 63-53, on Monday, November 17 and then fell to the Jaguars of Southern-Shreveport, 70-54, on Tuesday, November 18.

The Bears jumped ahead of the Wolves early in the first half to take a double-digit lead. However, the Wolves bounced back and eventually took the lead while outscoring the Bears, 30-24, to hold a lead by that margin as the teams entered the locker rooms at halftime. In the second half, the Wolves outscored the Bears, 33-29, to secure the 63-53 victory.

The Wolves had four players in double-digit scoring figures as Tyrell Bowles (Springdale, MD) led the way with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds while Koie Williams (Philadelphia) had 12 points with four rebounds and six assists. Morris Hammond (Ridgeland) had 11 points while Tristian Lucas (Pearl) had 10 points.

Caleb Crozier (Yazoo City) narrowly missed out on a double-double with six points and 10 rebounds while LeBron Deal (Monroe, LA) had five points and Dylan Creggett (DeSoto, TX) had two points to round out the scoring for the Wolves.

Once again, the Wolves fell behind by double-digits early in the first half to the Jaguars. However, the Wolves fought back and erased the lead down to just six points as the Jaguars outscored them, 30-24, to hold a lead by that margin at the end of the half. In the second half, the Wolves continued to fight and claw their way back cutting the lead down to just four points multiple times. However, the Jaguars held off the comeback attempt and outscored the Wolves, 40-30, as they sealed the 70-54 win.

Tyrell Bowles led the way for the Wolves with 16 points and five rebounds while Moustapha Salekh (Ngekoh, Senegal) provided a spark off the bench with 13 points, five rebounds, three steals, and one block. Koie Williams had seven points, LeBron Deal had six points, Caleb Crozier had five points, Morris Hammond had three points, while Dylan Creggett and Jackson Payne (Madison) had two points each to round out the scoring for the Wolves.

Co-Lin is now 4-4 overall and will return to action with a road game against Shelton State on Monday, November 24. Tip-off between the Wolves and the Buccaneers is set for 6 p.m., in Tuscaloosa.
