WESSON – The Co-Lin Men's Soccer team resumed MACCC play by hosting Meridian on Friday, October 3. The Wolves used an offensive onslaught and dominated the Eagles en route to a 5-0 win.
The Wolves got the scoring started early as Matthew Trisdale (Brandon) headed in a ball off a free kick from Alvaro De La Torre (A Coruna, Spain) in the sixth minute to take a 1-0 lead. Caden Walley (Madison) then blasted a ball past the Eagles keeper with an assist from Erick Martinez (Clinton) in the 17th minute. The final goal in the first half came late as Aden Lowery had a rebound from his previous shot come right back to him and then he slotted the ball past the keeper in the 42nd minute making the score, 3-0.
The final two goals of the match came late in the second half as Justin Singleton beat the keeper with an assist from Yohan Bedoya (Bogota, Colombia in the 77th minute. Bedoya then got in on the scoring as he scored on a free kick in the 84th minute making the score, 5-0. The Wolves then allowed the Eagles two shots over the last few minutes but neither found the back of the net as they secured the 5-0 victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jaime Duran (Madison) saved all four shots on goal he faced while playing 81 minutes of the match while freshman Adam Hood (Hattiesburg) saved both shots he faced while playing nine minutes in the combined clean sheet.
Co-Lin improves to 4-2-2 overall, 2-1-2 in MACCC play, and will return to action on the road against Pearl River on Tuesday, October 7. Kickoff between the No. 11 Wildcats and the Lady Wolves is set for 7 p.m., in Poplarville.
